Thinking lately about GOP's overuse of term American Exceptionalism and usually there link to Reagan's talk of a "shining city on a hill.". It would be great if the Dems were to make the case that a country can only be a shining city on the hill if it has the ability to build the roads to get up that hill. The Romney-Ryan plan says we are a country that can no longer afford to build those roads. The metaphor needs a little work but to me that is what the election comes down to. Romney-Ryan can't be for American Exceptionalism if they believe we as a country don't have the capacity to educate our children and build the roads required to maintain the city on the hill as it has been for centuries.
