Dear One Year Class,

So many beautiful things happened on Saturday. One of them happened after
the class ended. I had asked Todd to bring his portfolio of artwork -
evidently he never shows it to anyone and doesn't know what to do with it.
He left the entire portfolio here and I had a chance to look at it the next
day. It's fantastic. One thing that profoundly touched me is that he has
painted a beautiful depiction of "Prince" with purple and doves. Not only
is the picture itself deeply moving, it happens that I was in Minneapolis a
couple of weeks ago and went to Princes' home and work space. It was
a powerful experience of feeling the energy field of a man who wanted to
bring love, creativity, and beauty into the world. There were so many
potent letters, drawings, collages, and paintings from people all over the
world that are hung on the enormous fence around his property. Prince
brought much creativity and love to the world, and his death was likely a
symptom of the isolation that our culture increasingly, perhaps
unwittingly, supports. This is a reminder of 2 things. One is that every
moment of life is precious, we never know how long we will be here or if we
will ever see someone again...and the other is that we need to find ways to
not only create community, but to listen more deeply with wisdom and love
to another, so that we can bring more creativity in the way that we respond
to each moment of life. I have attached 2 photos - one is Todd's painting
of Prince, and the other is a picture someone took of me standing at
Prince's home.

So it is a deep honor and joy to join with all of you for this adventure as
we become more present, more capable of appreciating the preciousness of
each moment, and more able to give love wherever we are.

It was joyous to meet with so many of you, and hold the rest of you in my
awareness on Saturday for the beginning of our journey. Rather than work
out the schedule that day, since some of you could not be present, we
decided to have a conference call this Wednesday night, August 10th from
9pm to approximately 945pm to get the first 6 months sorted out.
