Our Advocacy team has been working non-stop over the last month and their efforts are getting noticed! Our energy security campaign, Operation Free, has been especially active in the debate over DoD Biofuels. Operation Free is committed to ending our dependence on oilf and defending the military's investments in clean and renewable energy.

07/17/2012-DoD Defense, "Trust" Ad

Operation Free launched a new online and television ad campaign featuring VLA Alumni Chris Marzoni. The "Trust" ad calls out members of Congress like Senator Portman for not trusting our military leaders.


07/08/2012-Fox News Great Green Fleet Segment with Guest Mike Breen, Truman VP

Truman Vice President, Mike Breen spoke in support of DoD biofuel investments on Fox News.


06/11/2012- EPA GHG Rule

We are in the process of shooting a commercial featuring Truman Fellow and Operation Free veteran Jon Gensler in support of the new EPA rule. Please check out our Facebook page to watch for the release of this great ad!


EVENTS IN CONGRESS AND AT THE WHITE HOUSE

06/15/2012-DoD Defense Coalition letter written by OpFree Generals

The DoD Defense Coalition launched an online letter authored by Operation Free Generals and Admirals in order to mobilize veterans from across the country to call for Congress to support clean energy investments. You can sign it in on our website!

06/19/2012 and 07/10/2012 -Truman VP testifies before Congress

Truman VP and Operation Free spokesman Mike Breen testified before Congress in both June and July. On June 19, he defended military investments in alternative energy and highlighted the economic benefits of clean energy before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations. A few weeks later, Breen returned to the House Energy & Commerce, Energy and Power subcommittee to discuss alternative fuels.


07/11/2012-Operation Free Flag Officers come to DC, meet in White House and visit the Hill
On Wednesday, a group of Operation Free's senior retired military officers joined representatives from involved administrative agencies, members of the advanced biofuels community, the agricultural lobby, and other national security organizations to discuss the importance of DoD's advanced biofuels programs. The next day, they met on the Hill with key persuadable Senate offices including: Sen. John Thune (R-SD), Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN), Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), and Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO).


07/12/2012-Operation Free briefs Congress on advanced biofuels- "Fueling our Military in the 21st Century"

Operation Free flag officers held a panel discussion in front of a crowd of over 175 congressional staffers and 10 reporters from major publications. Truman VP Mike Breen moderated the highly attended discussion, which featured retired officers from four branches of the armed services.
