Subject: Sidwell announcement of VP @ graduation

Team – Sidwell would like to send the below message to their school community this week (in an email to student families), confirming that the VP will speak at their Senior Class graduation in June.

We did an operational kick-off call with Sidwell last week – they will NOT announce the VP’s participation publicly (although we expect the news to leak to the local community once the below internal announcement is sent out) and the event will be CLOSED PRESS (Sidwell does not allow press on campus).

Note that both President Clinton and VP Gore have spoken at Sidwell’s senior graduations, under the same “personal capacity,” and those events remained closed press as well.

I don’t think any notifications are necessary for this but including Evan and Tonya FYSA.
Let me know if anyone has questions or concerns about the timing/language of the announcement below – otherwise, I’ll give Sidwell the green light for internal announcement by end-of-week.

We are very pleased to announce that this year’s Commencement speaker will be Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., grandfather of Senior Naomi Biden. We are grateful to the Vice President for accepting our invitation to address the Sidwell Friends community on what promises to be a day of joyful celebration for the family and friends of the Class of 2012.
