Dear Members of the Public Policy Working Group,
In follow-up to our prior discussions, attached is an overview of draft legislation that unifies existing food security programs under one overall umbrella and provides a mechanism to coordinate operations across all of these programs. In addition to the overview, attached is a more detailed explanation of the legislation. We worked closely with former Hill staff in developing the draft bill to help ensure that the proposed coordination mechanism would not violate constitutional/congressional rules.

We hope to introduce the bill when we launch the Roadmap (in late July)as the bill implements some of the recommendations of the Roadmap. We know that it will not pass this year, but hope to reintroduce and pass it next year. As discussed at the board meeting, the bill also provides an important tool to engage and mobilize supporters around our overall advocacy agenda.

I hope that we can organize a meeting of the Working Group next week to get your input and guidance. Shannon will follow-up with your offices to try and identify a convenient time for the proposed meeting. Thank you very much for all of your help.
