I wanted to make sure you saw Joaquin’s email from last week. Immigration reform is critical to our country and our continued economic recovery. That’s why it’s time for Texas Republicans to stop with the dangerous rhetoric and playing the games of fear and division.

Matt -

I think we can all agree that it’s time to put the politics of fear and division behind us and come up with real solutions for immigration reform.

Well, most of us can.

Two weeks ago, Dan Patrick, the lead Republican candidate for Lt. Governor in Texas, called on Texans to “stop the illegal invasion” and painted Hispanic immigrants as violent criminals.

Last week, Greg Abbott, the GOP candidate for Governor, compared the Texas border region to a third world country.

These comments are disturbing and I’m fed up. The GOP rhetoric on immigration reform is damaging our economy, our communities and the American way of life.

But it gets worse… this week, Tea Party Republicans in Washington said they will refuse to take up immigration reform this year.

This country was founded on the promise of opportunity and it’s time to stop the Tea Party’s divisive agenda in Texas. It’s only taking us backwards.
