Stephen Colbert has a new valentine: French president François Hollande.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m the first lady of France! Merci!” Colbert declared Wednesday on Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report.”

Tuesday night at the State Dinner, Colbert was seated next to Michelle Obama. That seat is traditionally reserved for the foreign first lady, but since Hollande went stag, Colbert scored that coveted spot.

“Nation, this is so much responsibility,” Colbert said.

“Every first lady has her initiatives,” he said, and his will be “reviving the guillotine and finally bringing Jean Valjean to justice.”

Colbert said, “it was a magical evening” showing off his table place card and the menu decorated with the official White House seal.

“I also stole the gravy boat,” he admitted, brandishing the boat.

“My new role as première dame de la France will not impact ‘The Report,’” he said, although the show will “now be made with even more butter.”
