mortgage settlement are diverting the money to fill short-term budget
gaps. In effect, they “are robbing troubled borrowers of assistance and

MICHAEL KINSLEY: John Roberts’s vote for the health-care law despite
what he personally thinks about Obamacare is a lesson for liberals
grappling with the Citizens United case, which was “correctly decided,
however deplorable the consequences. Liberals ought to show the chief
justice that we too can acknowledge a principle even when we don’t

jail time. Rajat Gupta, the former McKinsey & Co. chief who was
convicted last month of securities fraud, need only look to past

GORDON KERR: Currency devaluation won't succeed in the U.K. and
shouldn't be considered a savior for struggling euro countries either.
“Devaluation is not an alternative to sovereign default.” Instead, “a
structured default avoids triggering inflation and helps people plan.”
