Members of the Truman Center and Truman Project Boards, It was great to see many of you at the Convention in Philadelphia last week. We had a wonderful lineup of speakers at our official Truman events, and it was fantastic to see so many of our members participating as delegates, professionals, advocates, and supporters. Most importantly, in a year in which the stakes could not be higher -- and our issues are front and center -- Truman's voice is being heard more clearly than ever before. Here are some of the highlights: *Truman Convention by the Numbers* *104 Truman Members were in Philadelphia *as delegates, professionals, advocates, and supporters. *12+ Events led by or featuring Truman members*, including Truman speakers and panelists at both meetings of the DNC’s Vets & Military Families Caucus; a roundtable on American competitiveness with leaders from Fortune 500 companies; a concert by-and-benefiting veterans; a panel on gun violence featuring Congressmen John Lewis and James Clyburn; and a social impact-focused film festival. *4 Official Truman events*, included a panel on the Future of American Strength, featured a senior policy adviser from Hillary for America, a recently retired general, a senior international pollster, and a Member of Congress from Mexico; an intimate breakfast with Secretary Madeleine Albright; a membership recruitment event featuring former head of USAID Dr. Rajiv Shah; and a party in conjunction with our official partners at MTV’s Elect This <http://www.electthis.com/> program. *300+ Democratic delegates from five states were briefed and trained* on National Security and Foreign Policy in the 2016 Election. *Six Truman members were featured on the mainstage* on the closing night of the Convention, alongside General Allen. [image: Inline image 1] *One* image of Secretary Clinton participating in the Truman Project veterans roundtable at the VFW in Derry, NH on November 10th was *featured on-screen in the arena* (and caught by CNN) during Katy Perry’s performance on Thursday night. [image: Inline image 3] *One Truman member* – Marine veteran Kristen Kavanaugh - *spoke for four minutes during Wednesday primetime on the mainstage* of the Convention. [image: Inline image 2] *And just in the last two days, we've kept up the pressure. *Yesterday, President Obama published an op-ed <http://taskandpurpose.com/obama-on-veterans/> in Task and Purpose, a leading online publication for post-9/11 veterans run by a group of three Truman members. And finally, this morning, in response to recent comments made by Donald Trump about Khizr Khan and his family (Khan's son was killed while serving in Iraq), I was honored to be included as a signatory on a *letter* <https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/3002458-Letter-to-Donald-Trump-from-military-combat.html#document/p1> sent to Trump and covered in *today's Washington Post* <https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2016/08/01/bipartisan-coalition-of-veterans-gold-star-family-members-tells-trump-his-comments-were-unacceptable/?tid=sm_tw>. The letter was signed by a bipartisan coalition of 40 leading veterans and Gold Star family members, including a Medal of Honor recipient. I look forward to seeing you all on December 1st for the Truman Center and Truman Project board meetings. In the meantime, I promise you that the staff and I won't let up for a second in making the case for our values, for our policies, and for America to remain true to its best self. Thank you all for your continued engagement and support. We couldn't do this without you!
