Thank you for reading my piece about serving as a sniper in Iraq, Hunter. I was extraordinarily gratified to see the response on social media, and appreciated the conversation the article started over Oscar weekend. I joined up with VoteVets not too long after returning from Iraq, not as a movie critic, but primarily to advocate for the protection and expansion of our public lands. It's a chance to make a meaningful difference on an issue I care about. For many veterans like me, the road to recovery after returning home from war includes a good amount of time on the hiking trails and streams of our nation's national parks. If you liked my article, I hope you'll consider a contribution to VoteVets today in support of my work. You can make one here: https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/vote_vets_org Thanks again for reading my article. I didn't expect the thousands of likes, shares, and re-tweets. I also deeply appreciated hearing from so many veterans who may have disagreed with my take on the war, but appreciated the article's thesis: that no veteran can lay claim to the one, true single take on the Iraq war narrative. Everyone's experience and takeaway is dependent upon when they served, where they served, the role they played, and countless other factors. That's the message I hope everyone received when they finished reading my article.
