Robert, it's been particularly fun for me to take a walk down memory lane this week.

My first gig in politics was as an intern for then-Treasurer Casey's 2006 campaign. It was the race that cycle, and I was so excited to be a part of a team that would unseat Rick Santorum. But sometime over the summer it became less about beating Santorum, and much more about electing Bob Casey to the U.S. Senate.

As an intern, any opportunity is a good one, so I took on as much as possible – I went to every event I could and helped every staff member who would let me. Over the course of a few months, I saw Bob Casey speak in dozens of different settings, and I started to notice how genuine he was. He listened to people when they spoke, answered honestly and respectfully, no matter what tenor of question he was asked. He sounded so different than the people I'd seen on TV.

The summer was over before I knew it but I wasn't ready to leave – I had to see this through. I took time off from college and I stayed on – I interned through Election Day, went down to D.C. to help with the transition, and staffed the inauguration. I was so proud that in my small way, I helped send Bob Casey to serve us.

I stayed in touch with the team, and the following summer interned in his D.C. office. DC hadn't changed him. He was still genuine, thoughtful, and determined.

I always wanted to work for him again, so at the end of 2012 when the opportunity arose, I jumped. I've had the unbelievable honor of working for him for the last two years, and I can say without hesitancy he remains genuine, thoughtful and determined. He's still Bob.

He engenders a fierce loyalty among those who work for him, and it never fades. I see it in his supporters, too – all of you who have stayed with him for so many years, and those of you who are new, support him because of who he is at the core.

I'm asking you to join me in showing him how proud we are to have him as our Senator – give $10, $50, $100 or more. Show him that we know he's had our back all this time, and we will keep having his.

Robert,

Tomorrow is the tenth anniversary of my candidacy for the United States Senate. Looking back, things have changed quite a bit since those early days on the campaign trail.

Social Security was under threat of privatization by an emboldened George W. Bush. YouTube was less than a month old. And Rick Santorum was still in the Senate.

As I reflect on those early days, I am also reminded of the hard work and strong support that I received daily from Pennsylvanians just like you.

To show my thanks, I wanted one of you to have this signed original "Bob Casey for U.S. Senate" rally placard from our first campaign together ten years ago.

In those days back in 2005 and 2006, I had the pleasure to speak with Pennsylvanians that shared with me their hopes and worries as well as their fond memories of my father. I will always be thankful for their warmth, hospitality, and support.
