Hello all,

Just a quick update before signing off for a long holiday weekend.


1. Our fiscal year has ended pretty much as we expected it to. Gregg Dyer will have our final numbers to us by July 15th and I will forward them to you at that time.

2. Cornerstone has agreed to continue their work for us on a pro-bono basis. We will revisit as the year progresses but this is good news and very generous on their part.
They will continue to work in four primary areas:

* Intelligence gathering & issue monitoring;

* Hill-focused branding & relationship building, including a continuation of staff and Member meetings, both in D.C. and at local schools

* Assessment & strategic recommendations on state tax credits. They will complete a full assessment and make recommendation on where we should consider pursuing state tax credits; and

* General branding, relationship building and identification of potential financial supporters.


3. Melodie Hessling Wittenbach (congratulations Mrs. Wittenbach!) and I just returned from a very good School Leadership in Changing Times 3-day conference at the Kellogg School of Non-Profit Management. 8 of our school leaders participated and early feedback suggested a great combination of practical and inspiring. It was time well spent and this pilot group will actively work with us in planning leadership programs for our member schools moving forward.

4. The Whelan Group has begun its work on an internal organizational and development audit. We will be meeting with them on July 21st for a vision session and more formal kick off meeting. Stay tuned for further details on this syncing with our strategic planning work.

One final and very happy note: Today, July 1, 2011 is BJ and Bebe Cassin's 50th wedding anniversary. They are celebrating in Hawaii, surrounded by the love and joy of family and friends. Thanks to Bebe and BJ for such inspiration. May your love and joy continue for a long time to come!
