King County Council Members Bob Ferguson (D) and Reagan Dunn (R) will square off in the general election next fall in the race to succeed outgoing Attorney General Rob McKenna (R) who is seeking the GOP nomination for governor. 2008 attorney general candidate John Ladenburg initially considered a second bid, but last Wednesday decided to instead pursue a seat on the state’s high court. With the field set DAGA is more sure than ever that this is the year to reclaim Washington. Bob Ferguson has been a member of the King County Council (Seattle area) since 2003 twice knocking off long time Republican incumbents, in 2003 and after redistricting in 2005. Ferguson has been recognized by the Aspen Institute-Rodel Fellowship program as an outstanding young political leader. He has raised over $100,000 since forming his campaign committee and has collected a long list of statewide endorsements. During his career as a King County Council Member Ferguson has dedicated his efforts to improving public safety, fiscal responsibility and transparency in government. He has pledged to pull out of the multi-state lawsuit against the federal health care law, which was a leading topic in the 2010 elections, citing that it is a drain on funds to protect Washingtonians. During their tenure together on the King County Council, Bob Ferguson and Reagan Dunn have been at odds over issues like consumer protection and public safety. Dunn (R) has often voted against measures to increase funding and support for police forces and against consumer privacy measures.
