Let us check. This isn't an issue anyone in Haiti could help with, it is a State Department Visa issue. They are always really difficult. That said, let me check. While we are trying to figure out any contacts you may also want to see if JK's office can help - they may be able to get you a contact at State, etc. Eric D. Not sure what to do here and if there is anything that you can help with. I think I have told you some of this, but let me fill you in with some more detail. There are two boys from Haiti that are staying with a family that we know here in Roseburg and they have been going to our kids school. Very nice kids that grew up in an orphanage over there and have a great perspective on life. One of the boys has a sister that was still living in the orphanage and after a lot of thought and consideration in our family we decided to try and bring her over here on a school visa to afford her the same opportunity that her brothers have had. We have been working with a missionary that from our area that has spent a fair amount of time working at that orphanage and we just flew her back to Haiti last week to meet with the Embassy and try to get the visa. Although it appears she has all the documents in order and everything is ready she is getting the run around there and they basically told her keep trying. Not sure if this is their way of just trying to get more money ($200/visit) or some political game or???? Anyways, the missionary is going to try and go back to them one more time before she leaves (she flies back Jul 20), but I thought I would see if this is something you would have any contacts at all for or advice. I can get you whatever details would be helpful if it is something you have contacts for. My apologies for bringing this one to you and if it is something you can’t or don’t feel comfortable helping with no problem we will just keep plugging along. Toby A.
