Dear Members of the Board of Directors of WFP USA, Thank you very much for participating in the recent Board Meeting. Your deep engagement and the far-reaching discussions at the meeting are further evidence that we are moving the organization to the next level of development. Together, we have successfully overcome the organization’s challenges and are now poised to significantly enhance our impact on global hunger. Thank you very much for your commitment to the organization and the cause. In follow-up to the discussions: 1. I am very happy to inform you that Shannon Hiskey has now joined the WFP USA team as the Special Assistant to the President. She will be in contact with your respective offices next week to identify convenient dates for board meetings for the next two years. 2. For your review/comment, attached is the current and proposed new mission statement. As discussed, the proposed new statement is intended to more accurately and succinctly describe the mission and activities of the organization. Your input is welcomed. 3. Thank you very much for your input on the upcoming Award Ceremony and Conference. Derry Derringer from our development team will follow up with you concerning the potential sponsors that were discussed at the meeting. FYI, the Save the Date notice below has been distributed to potential attendees. 4. As a reminder, the Board decided to move the date of the next board meeting to the morning of October 25th to coincide with the award ceremony. 5. Finally, the conversation concerning Major Donor Fundraising was very helpful. As discussed, this is an area of potential growth. In the coming weeks as we hire a new Vice President of Fundraising, we will take action to improve our donor solicitation and stewardship process and will keep you apprised of our progress. Thanks again for you support and dedication. Your efforts are making a difference in the lives of millions of people throughout the world.
