Over the weekend, we were saddened by the news of Senator John McCain’s passing. Senator McCain’s commitment to public service, his patriotism, and his principled leadership in the United States Senate will inspire generations of future leaders. https://www.emkinstitute.org/resources/kennedyinstitute2018poll To honor Senator McCain’s legacy, the Institute invites you to visit throughout this coming week to sign a condolence book and leave messages and mementos for the McCain family. Additionally, this Saturday, September 1 at 10 a.m., the Institute will live stream the memorial service for Senator McCain, and offer free admission to anyone interested in viewing the proceedings. Our doors open at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The significance of Senator McCain’s service in the Senate and to our country has been beautifully captured in the (https://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2018/08/25/for-john-mccain-was-always-country-first/UFMMnrTgF2o8hij8udvltI/story.html) Boston Globe (https://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2018/08/25/for-john-mccain-was-always-country-first/UFMMnrTgF2o8hij8udvltI/story.html) by our Co-Founder and Board President Victoria Reggie Kennedy. “John’s example summons us, in his memory and for the sake of our democracy, to live up to what is best in ourselves and to honor what is best in others.” Please read Mrs. Kennedy's full op-ed here (https://www.bostonglobe.com/opinion/2018/08/25/for-john-mccain-was-always-country-first/UFMMnrTgF2o8hij8udvltI/story.html) , and the Boston Globe’s article on how the Massachusetts region is remembering Senator McCain here (https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2018/08/26/mccain-remembered-boston-area-true-profile-courage/ebfYohpHI6ssLY7KiFucdN/story.html) .
