This event is a dream come true to me. When I was 16 years old, I traveled with my father to Honduras. Since then we have been building schools in developing countries. I have been wanting to share more about this organization with my friends in the Vail Valley for a very long time. Thanks to the efforts of a great group of interns this event is going to be a fantastic way to bring SCW to my friends here.

The 2011 SCW Open is located at the Red Sky Ranch and Golf Club in Wolcott, Colorado. Red Sky boasts two of Colorado's finest golf courses. Designed by Greg Norman and Tom Fazio respectively, the courses hold the number one and two spots in Travel + Leisure Golf Magazine's list of top golf courses in Colorado. Red Sky is nestled near the legendary Vail and Beaver Creek Mountain Resorts and only 20 minutes from the Vail/Eagle County Airport. The Norman Course will serve as the venue for the 2011 SCW Open. Like his golfing career, Greg Norman's reputation as a course designer is characterized by a zeal for achievement. At Red Sky Golf Club, Norman skillfully allows the treasures of the natural landscape to dictate the flow of play. Craggy rock outcroppings, twisted knots of scrub oak, rugged gulches, and wildflower meadows all contribute to an unparalleled wilderness golf experience. This 7,580-yard (Par 72) course enjoys the Vail Valley's finest sunsets silhouetting the majesty of Castle Peak.

For more than ten years, Schools for Children of the World (SCW) has been committed to improving educational opportunities in under-developed countries by working with local communities to develop quality school facilities. Our goal is to help community members design and build a school, empowering them to use the experience to make further improvements to their community and the surrounding region. The communities we work with generally provide the land and volunteer labor while we aid in the planning and design. In addition, over 90% of the donations to SCW go directly to the bricks and mortar that provide a safe and lasting building for the children. SCW currently operates in 14 countries in three major regions around the world: Central and South America, Africa and Haiti.
