Thought you would enjoy hearing this. I have a friend, Phil Droege, who is a career employee at the White House. Heads the Office of Record Management and has worked there since H.W. Bush. Told me that during the government shutdown he was considered essential and had to work. One day, unannounced into his office in the bowels of the Old Executive Office Building pops JRB. Just came by to thank Phil for everything he does and for working through the shutdown - spent about 5 minutes chatting. Phil said through all the Presidents and VPs he worked for none of them had come by to do that and that it meant so much to him.

Anyway, just thought I would pass that on.
