Hi Hunter, The VP looked great and did a great job yesterday pumping up the crowd (crowd size less than what it should have been). Along that line-- and please indulge for a bit--, my special treatment yesterday was really less than what it should have been, too. This was the VP in my backyard, and the former summer intern/Harvard student/advance person told me that the VP’s office had made it known to take care of me. I was offered a parking space (my office is two blocks away and I walked over)) and I was in the VIP section with 50 plus persons and got 30 seconds in the photo opp. I could have gotten that on my own. I’ve done lots of advance for lots of presidents on down all over the county, and I know how to stroke a person. (I even did the Biden for Pres announcements in 1987 in Boston and NH ).Please let me be clear I am not blaming the advance person and this is no fault of her. And I do not think the VP even knew I was there prior to the photo. It is part of a larger pattern where once again I’m on the outside looking in. You’ve heard me talk to you about this in the past somewhat. Although yesterday was a bunny shot. (it was not my place to make this an issue yesterday, nor the way I operate) more importantly is the fact is that I was there when your father and I walked to the plane in Manchester when he withdrew in 87, with him telling me he was “sorry he fucked up,” and I told him we’d do it again. In 06, we got that chance and started again, and I was there in Iowa when it all ended, and Ashley said your father had gotten “redemption.” Along the way, I put up the Danny O’Brien and the other campaign misfits in NH and Iowa, lived in Clive Iowa for two plus months without compensation, have incurred hundreds of dollars if not more out of pocket expenses and now have to pay for many Biden VP events, have had the VP come to Boston and other persons I know being invited to come over to visit with him or meet up, got soaked in the pouring rain at the first NH debate winning, according to CNN, the sign war outside UNH, while Missy and crew sat inside in a warm, dry room eating pizza, and last but not least had the VP and others lead me to believe I‘m on a list for a job in the administration, when, in fact, Hoffman, Toner and others never lifted a finger. I could go on and on, and there are plenty more highlights, but you know. Rasky knows. The VP knows. What I know is this. I should have gotten more than a happy handshake and balloon yesterday, even a thank you somewhere in the past would have been nice, but not really necessary, and some real job consideration, especially in light of some of the stiffs who ended up in the administration and are now cashing out or have cashed out. I’ve suggested most recently if not a job, even a trip or two as an aide to the VP or anything—something-- else, would be great. In any event, count me in for the next Biden campaign, fundraiser, event or whatever. (I have the NH governor and others in NH on speed dial, and some in Iowa.) I’ll report to the frontlines as usual. Thanks, and I know this may not come at the best time, and I really appreciate your reading this. Newspaper did front page story today with me and my phone and messages are non stop. For obvious reasons, I need to be part of event. Rasky working on it, but any help would be great. Everybody in Lynn knows my relationship with the Bidens so important that I be “with” him and able to show it. (Not my style, but event came to me). Thanks. Hope everything ok. The vice president is expected to arrive at approximately 3:15 p.m. There will be YMCA members in attendance, including Amanda Mena, the singing sensation who won the “La Voz Kids” competition on the Telemundo network this summer. Mena will perform at the event, according to a Moulton representative. Moulton, who unseated incumbent John Tierney in the Democratic primary, is locked in a tight race with Republican candidate Richard Tisei. Independent Chris Stockwell is also running. Longtime Biden political supporter and local attorney Richard L.Vitali said getting Biden’s help was an early Moulton campaign goal. “I was approached by (former mayor Thomas P.) Costin to see if Biden or his son Beau could come — I passed it along to the vice president’s people,” Vitali said. Vitali said Biden can link Moulton — a political newcomer facing former state legislator and 2012 congressional candidate Tisei in the Nov. 4 final election — to Democratic values and compare Moulton’s election bid with other Democratic races across the country. “He recognizes a new face like Seth Moulton’s is worth calling attention to — it’s super significant,” Vitali said. Tisei’s spokesman Charlie Szold in a statement Monday branded Biden “a career politician.” “Seth Moulton is relying on everyone but the voters of the 6th District to try and win this election,” Szold said. Vitali said Biden’s Wednesday appearance may not be his last trip to Lynn or the Boston area. “I think he’s interested in running for president,” he said.
