Dear Hunter,
As you may have seen, we have been extremely busy with events, paper releases, trainings, and briefings in the last month despite the snow! We wanted to highlight a few additional and very exciting things where we would like good Board representation.

We are honored that he has chosen the new Truman|CNP headquarters to deliver an address about Discovery and Innovation (invitation and details below). We are expecting to have a full house of high-ranking Administration officials, policy elite, and press. We hope that our in-town Board members can make this event. Please RSVP to cnponline.org/ht/display/EventDetails/i/42750 for the event and we’ll make sure you have priority seating.

Maintaining America's Global Leadership in Innovation and Discovery
Tuesday, March 11, 2014, 10:30 a.m.
1250 I St NW, Suite 500 Washington, DC 20005
In 2011, fifty-three percent of all funding for basic research came from the federal government. Yet as a percentage of our total federal budget, we spend less than one-third on research and development today than we did in 1965. What is even more alarming: while American federal expenditures on research and development are shrinking, the rest of the world is spending more.
Just a week after President Barack Obama released a budget that showed a renewed commitment to funding innovation and discovery, Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin will deliver a speech at the Center for National Policy to discuss the devastating impact cutting back on federally funded research and development will have on our future, and what we can do to reverse the trend. RSVP now.
