By Kyle Cheney With Steven Shepard, Manu Raju and Alex Isenstadt The following newsletter is an abridged version of Campaign Pro's Morning Score. Ami Bera for his position on Obamacare. http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=68fcff0de25b1c719ed36a2ff358ff24c7258f9ca5942058e0219a0e66a45942 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=68fcff0de25b1c719ed36a2ff358ff24c7258f9ca5942058e0219a0e66a45942 FIRST IN SCORE - Crossroads GPS, the nonprofit arm of the Crossroads empire, is out with two ads today targeting Democrats in razor-close races. The first, in Louisiana's Senate contest, says Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu "lives lavishly" and criticizes her for supporting cuts to Medicare Advantage. It also accuses her of letting "illegal immigrants collect Social Security. The second ad accuses New Jersey Democrat Aimee Belgard, the party's nominee for a House in the state's Second Congressional District, of taking New Jersey taxpayers "up a creek without a paddle." The Landrieu ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=68fcff0de25b1c71b3da259ddaea51208c056693da6a762c11790b370566a7cf http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=68fcff0de25b1c71b3da259ddaea51208c056693da6a762c11790b370566a7cf ; the Belgard ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=68fcff0de25b1c71bfb5aa9fba5cd60f4d8919193a14f9c959ae0d3dbc4f9b2a http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=68fcff0de25b1c71bfb5aa9fba5cd60f4d8919193a14f9c959ae0d3dbc4f9b2a Crossroads going to Vegas? Crossroads GPS has also inquired with Las Vegas TV stations about airtime between Wednesday and Election Day ($300,000 on Vegas' NBC affiliate, for example), according to sources tracking the air war. The content of any TV ads isn't yet clear. Nevada isn't home to any competitive races this cycle: GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval is cruising to reelection against only nominal Democratic opposition, and an early challenger to GOP Rep. Joe Heck, Democrat Erin Bilbray, hasn't panned out. But the state will return to the forefront of American politics soon enough (#WeMatter). It's expected to be a presidential battleground again in 2016, and Republicans are certain to make Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who has said publicly he intends to run again, their number-one target at the Senate level. EXCLUSIVE: DCCC GOES UP IN SEVEN DISTRICTS ... The DCCC is unveiling ads in seven districts it hopes to win partly by convincing voters the Republican candidates are out of touch and beholden to special interests, against women's access to certain health care options and driven by greed. AND DGA STRIKES TOO - Two DGA-supported groups - The Alliance for a Better Rhode Island and Hawaii Forward - are up with ads in their respective states. The RI group is out today with a spot, supported by a six-figure buy, that swings at Republican Allan Fung, the former mayor of Cranston, for decisions he made during a police department scandal while he was mayor of the small city. The Hawaii spot, also backed by a six-figure buy, hits Republican Duke Aiona as anti-abortion in all cases and in lockstep with the national party agenda. The Rhode Island ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422b10c925972bf727e46dff792b64b7ff99e6f60033662be58 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422b10c925972bf727e46dff792b64b7ff99e6f60033662be58 ; the Hawaii ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422f19e4bcfc96cc7ed112d44f5564e9a4a7872baf27c1433c8 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422f19e4bcfc96cc7ed112d44f5564e9a4a7872baf27c1433c8 AIR WARS - VoteVets on air for Braley in Iowa, Moulton in MA-06: The group is dropping a combined $1.2 million in support of Iowa Democratic Senate candidate Bruce Braley and Massachusetts Democrat Seth Moulton, who's vying for the state's 6th District. In an ad for Braley, supported by a $650,000 buy - including $100,000 of radio time - the group features remarks from World War II and Korean War veterans praising Braley for helping "hundreds of troops get overdue combat pay." In Massachusetts, VoteVets is on the air with a $600,000 buy that takes a harsher approach toward Moulton's opponent, Republican Richard Tisei. A narrator calls Tisei a "career politician" and says Moulton, a "courageous veteran" would be a better leader. The Iowa ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e40754220d5d81f95217897ecbce12dbf6e89391bf34102e4bc7d5bf http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e40754220d5d81f95217897ecbce12dbf6e89391bf34102e4bc7d5bf ; the Massachusetts ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422d37d8aaa562ec6418839651a34c2f43bbdfbac919bb9ec5d http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422d37d8aaa562ec6418839651a34c2f43bbdfbac919bb9ec5d - First in Score: Fuels America is up on the radio with a six-figure buy boosting Democrats in Minnesota and Michigan, along with a Nebraska Republican, for what it says is their efforts to wean America off foreign oil and support local jobs. The ads - supporting Minnesota Sen. Al Franken and Rep. Collin Peterson, as well as Michigan Senate nominee Gary Peters and Nebraska Rep. Lee Terry - each run for a minute. The Franken ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422aaaaa0c16cf2ea264c47ad6152b91636a24b0e419b8676d4 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422aaaaa0c16cf2ea264c47ad6152b91636a24b0e419b8676d4 ; the Peterson ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422ff6f85fa2aa0f68518dfaeff0a9cd998705db0880a242598 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=4eec8740e4075422ff6f85fa2aa0f68518dfaeff0a9cd998705db0880a242598 ; the Peters ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdec03a55d889058079d555ce3f0f6fd7b0ef9963703b903cdc http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdec03a55d889058079d555ce3f0f6fd7b0ef9963703b903cdc ; the Terry ad: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdec1392eaf8dd87f8e9d7f1d310c2265d9b0268483af7db4e2 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdec1392eaf8dd87f8e9d7f1d310c2265d9b0268483af7db4e2 - NRCC investing in Iowa races: The National Republican Congressional Committee, trying to expand the party's target list just two weeks before the midterm election, will invest $1.3 million in two suddenly-competitive Iowa races. The committee will spend $900,000 against Democratic Rep. Dave Loebsack in the southeast Iowa-based 2nd District, and $400,000 against Democrat Pat Murphy, who is running to replace Democratic Rep. Bruce Braley in the neighboring 1st District. The news was first reported by the Quad City Times. Republicans see opportunity in both districts, even though they have favored Democrats in recent years. Kay Hagan, Thom Tillis finally seems to have it figured out. A combination of factors have helped Tillis pick up momentum heading into the homestretch, Republicans say: Hagan's admission that she missed an Armed Services Committee meeting dealing with the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant for a fundraiser earlier this year, dissatisfaction with the Obama administration's handling of domestic cases Ebola and several news stories about Hagan's husband benefiting from the stimulus law Hagan supported in her first months in the Senate. ... 'Since we've really started stepping up our spending and advertising - we've had a number of third parties helping us out - we're seeing the polls break our way,' Tillis said. 'I think we've got the momentum. I think the undecideds are going to break our way. I'm very optimistic.'" http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cde8fa7daf8504a4b0022c03dcc560d5838ecf7517a4a7cda79 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cde8fa7daf8504a4b0022c03dcc560d5838ecf7517a4a7cda79 - "Poll: Kentucky Senate race still neck and neck," by Campaign Pro's Steven Shepard: http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdee276f7a0310300c363ac715aecc9f8415fc0791d116b2c75 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdee276f7a0310300c363ac715aecc9f8415fc0791d116b2c75 FIGHT NIGHT - Score's roundup of last night's debates: - NH-02: "2nd Congressional District candidates call each other absent," by Associated Press: "Candidates competing in New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District accused each other last night of being missing in action and ignoring constituents in favor of following party leaders. In their first debate, Republican state Rep. Marilinda Garcia criticized Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep. [Ann McLane] Kuster for not holding town hall meetings, and accused her of putting President Obama's agenda ahead of constituent concerns." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdea69edeb40c278b021c1571b9f6ec0c74da1ad37370e26f9b http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdea69edeb40c278b021c1571b9f6ec0c74da1ad37370e26f9b - IL-Gov: "Quinn, Rauner unleash negativity in final debate," by the Chicago Tribune's Rick Pearson and Michelle Manchir: "Rauner was able to criticize Quinn throughout the debate while keeping an even tone. But Rauner, who has run his campaign based on his business success, stumbled when asked to name a business investment that led to increased jobs in Illinois ... Quinn evaded a question - posed at different points by the journalists on the panel and Rauner himself - on whether he would try to make permanent the 2011 income tax increase he signed if he loses the governor's race. Sam Brownback vowed Monday to defend Kansas' ban on same-sex marriage, while Democratic challenger Paul Davis said during a debate Monday that there's nothing either of them can do at this point because the matter is in the hands of the courts." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdecbccc7f2219c4f812407ddb32daf76896a794ac326f4ba03 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=72c8ad1a4c304cdecbccc7f2219c4f812407ddb32daf76896a794ac326f4ba03 (Brownback and Davis will face off for the final time today at 1:40 p.m. ET for a 35-minute debate hosted by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. That's the message that Obama himself delivered Monday, speaking on Rev. Al Sharpton's radio show - a line that Republicans immediately identified as the latest gaffe they'd try to drum controversy out of, right up there with Obama's line two weeks ago that his policies are on the ballot in November. "The bottom line is, though, these are all folks who vote with me," Obama said. "They have supported my agenda in Congress." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=5c20869d972034a5623e575a4c52ee076594c9326570582f367201ed6a76e600 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=5c20869d972034a5623e575a4c52ee076594c9326570582f367201ed6a76e600 AIR WARS, CONT'D - Barber camp release two new sports in AZ-02: Democratic Rep. Ron Barber's campaign is releasing two ads today, a spot on women's health that rips Republican Martha McSally for what it says is being willing to restrict women's right to obtain abortion services, and a Spanish-language ad that accuses McSally of an agenda to cut education funding. Jeanne Shaheen that she was involved in reforms of the VA. "Shaheen refused to meet with veterans who pushed for reform," a narrator says. "When our veterans needed her, Jeanne Shaheen was AWOL." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=5c20869d972034a5f2e86d230ed4cd22a331d24f6c01027383d737eb98ecb0c8 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=5c20869d972034a5f2e86d230ed4cd22a331d24f6c01027383d737eb98ecb0c8 SIX DEGREES OF JERRY LUNDERGAN - Turns out there's a Silent Bob connection to Alison Lundergan Grimes' campaign bus. The actor and director Kevin Smith - who played the infamous character Silent Bob in the cult film 'Clerks' - was the previous owner of the Grimes bus before it was purchased by a company owned by her father, Jerry Lundergan. Smith tweeted as much last week, saying, 'Remember when I had my own bus? Well last year, I sold it - to the Father of @AlisonForKY. Now it's in the news.' Asked on Monday if Smith was involved in the deal, Libby Staley of Staley Motors said: 'He was the previous owner.' She declined to provide further details. A copy of the vehicle's registration said the bus had been previously registered to a Florida company, Robins Fantasy Inc. TODAY ON POLITICO - "Conservatives catch up as super PAC fundraising explodes," by Kenneth P. Vogel: "Despite being outraised by Democratic super PACs all year long, the top conservative groups played to a draw in September and are in a strong position to continue matching - and possibly surpassing - their rivals leading up to Election Day. Conservative megadonors worried the Democrats' surprising advantage in super PAC spending could cost the Republicans the Senate poured a flood of million-dollar checks into GOP-allied groups last month. The three biggest-spending conservative super PACs - the Karl Rove-conceived American Crossroads, the Joe Ricketts-funded Ending Spending Action Fund and the Koch brothers-backed Freedom Partners Action Fund - raised $30.3 million in September, according to a POLITICO analysis of reports filed over the last few days with the Federal Election Commission." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=5c20869d972034a59f7bb1251ab0441e2743a9e0d2b735824789d2fb7865e196 http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=5c20869d972034a59f7bb1251ab0441e2743a9e0d2b735824789d2fb7865e196 - "Prosecutor: DeMaio won't face charges," by Alex Isenstadt: Republican Carl DeMaio, a high-profile California congressional candidate, will not face charges stemming from accusations that he sexually harassed a former staffer, law enforcement officials announced Monday. Bonnie Dumanis, the San Diego County district attorney, said police had investigated the allegations from Todd Bosnich, an openly gay former DeMaio campaign policy director who has said that the candidate harassed, intimidated and attempted to bribe him to keep him quiet.
