Dear Hunter, Back in the 1990s, my father -- the Senator from Delaware at the time -- wrote the first iteration of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). He knew then what we know today -- that the victims of domestic violence deserve justice. Law enforcement should have all the necessary tools to track down and prosecute perpetrators. Victims of sexual assault and domestic violence should have access to programs that protect them and help them rebuild their lives. The Violence Against Women Act became law nearly two decades ago. And in the time it has been in effect, rates of domestic violence and sexual assault across the country have decreased 64 percent. Our work is not done yet. This month is the one year anniversary of the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act -- one year since protections were expanded to include immigrants and members of the LGBT community. I am committed to protecting Delaware families. We must keep shining a bright light on domestic violence. If you believe that too, take the opportunity today to renew your support for the victims of these crimes. Sign the petition. http://action.beaubiden.com/e140310 Thank you.
