I wanted to reach out and say I was sorry about your news. Every person has life challenges but it is not fair to you or your family to have them aired publicly. There is significant challenge of addiction and depression in my family across multiple generations including in mine. I am personally very sympathetic.


My wife's father is a very famous person in her country, Argentina. He was finance minister and foreign minister and ran for President--so she carries the burdens and the blessings of a famous last name there--so I get it.


We were very appreciative of the work you did for us at CSIS--you were at every meeting and made a significant contribution. The report mattered and will have a significant bearing on the future of how the US engages with the rest of the world.
