Time is running short for those preparing submissions for the Thompson-Ravitz Awards for Excellence in Public Affairs. Entries will be accepted through 21 March. For information on how to submit entries, you can contact Chris Dunn (CHINFO OI-84) or go to: https://pa-net.navy.mil/eRoom/chinfo/PANET/0_15c02a 2. DoD WORLDWIDE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP. The 22nd Annual DoD Worldwide Military Photography Workshop will be conducted 15-21 Jun at Ft. Meade, Md. Selection for attendance will be competitive and limited to 25 photographers / photojournalists. Personnel from all services holding a photographer / photojournalist specialty code, or DoD employed civilian photographers, may apply. Attendees will be selected based on their portfolio and command recommendation, which must be received no later than Friday, 28 Mar. DINFOS course schedules and Navy quotas through FY15 are on p-a-Net at https://pa-net.navy.mil/eRoom/chinfo/PANET/0_15bf11. The course schedules are also on the DINFOS web site at http://www.dinfos.dma.mil/dinfosweb/students/courseinfo/academic_main.aspx. Please review all course prerequisites before requesting a course. Some prerequisites can be waived. The courses available in the upcoming months are listed below. Officers and MCs should contact their detailer. Civilians should contact Chris Dunne (CHINFO OI-84). a. Intermediate Photojournalism -- 14 May - 15 Jul; b. Joint Intermediate PA -- 19 May - 2 Jul; c. PA Qualification -- 27 May - 1 Aug; d. Combat Camera Leadership -- 2-13 Jun; e. Intermediate PA Specialist -- 16-30 Jun; f. Basic Public Affairs Specialist (ADL-NR) -- 30 Jun-10 Feb; g. Broadcast Management -- 28 Jul-12 Aug; h. PA QUALIFICATION COURSE-ADVANCED DISTRIBUTED LEARNING IN-RESIDENCY PHASE. The next two-week Residency course for the Basic Public Affairs Specialist ADL Course is scheduled for 2-13 Jun. The two -week Public Affairs Qualification ADL Residency Course will be offered 11-22 Aug and 15-26 Sep. All residency courses are conducted at Ft. Meade, Md. Students must complete all BPASC-ADL-NR or PAQC-ADL-NR online course requirements before they are eligible to enroll in the residency phase. To request a seat in either residency course, contact quota manager Chris Dunne (CHINFO OI-84). 4. NPASE EXPEDITIONARY SKILLS COURSES SCHEDULE. The Navy Public Affairs Support Elements East (Norfolk) and West (San Diego) teach several courses for MCs, officers and civilians to develop their skills. These courses are Photojournalism (ESP), Broadcast Production (ESB), Print Journalism (ESPJ), Graphic Artist (ESG) and PA Specialist (ESPA). The schedule for the remainder of 2014 is attached. JOINT HUMANITARIAN OPERATIONS COURSE (JHOC). The U.S. Agency for International Development offers the two-day JHOC for selected military units, staffs and individuals. In the Washington, DC area it is offered monthly and offered at various locations around the country and overseas. JHOC highlights international best practices and the U.S. military’s role in partnering with non-military organizations during Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Response (HA/DR) operations. The course is FREE and is a great opportunity for communicators to learn about the international disaster response system. Barbara Burfeind (chief of visual information (VI) plans and integration at the Defense Media Activity) shares tips on preparing for the Readiness Review. Navy PA Policy and Regulations Correspondence Course correspondence course is accessible on line if you want to learn more about Navy PA or simply recharge your knowledge. CONFERENCES. - The International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) World Conference is 8-11 Jun in Toronto, Canada.
