Jill Biden Misspeaks at Jewish Event: Pray for A “Lasting Peace in Gaza”

Speaking at an annual conference for Lions of Judah, a group that represents philanthropic Jewish women, Dr. Jill Biden, the second lady of the United States, told the crowd that she’s joining them in “praying for a lasting peace in Gaza,” multiple attendees told BuzzFeed.

Several attendees at the conference — which is taking place over a span of three days — were flustered at Biden’s likely mistaken remarks, the people added.

Biden was speaking on Sunday night, the first day of the conference at the Marriott Marquis Times Square.

While the people who spoke to BuzzFeed said that Biden’s speech “extremely well-received,” they said that she likely “just mixed up Gaza and Israel” during her speech.

BuzzFeed reached out to both, the vice president’s office and Lions of Judah, but both declined to comment on the incident.

Describing the vice president’s wife, Lions of Judah states that the “Second Lady, Dr. Biden works to bring attention to the sacrifices made by military families, to highlight the importance of community colleges to America’s future, and to raise awareness around areas of particular importance to women, including breast cancer prevention, all while continuing to teach English full-time at a community college in nearby Virginia.”
