Devon/Hunter- We are in the process of renewing our liability/workmen's comp insurance for the DC office. Because we pay our employees through Rosemont Seneca Advisors the policy has to be written under that entity (it has until now been via Seneca). In talking to the agent (who is a friend of mine - we are switching our business to her) she said that the way the organization is structured we are opening ourselves to the risk of being sued by not having a joint policy for the NY and DC offices because we are operating under the Rosemont Seneca name in each. I think she's right - if someone slips and falls in NY and sues us and your policy is under "Rosemont Capital" they will come after Rosemont Seneca. She said they would structure the policy so it is under Rosemont Seneca with Seneca and Rosemont covered individually as well. They can also split the bills and send to each entity so that we are each paying our fair share. Devon, not sure what your policy is under but does this make sense to you? She's going to propose additional insurance options such as E&O which we can decide if we want to include or not. Also, we should discuss RSTP. I bet they don't have any insurance and we have an exposure there. We probably need a separate policy but since the fund has office space they probably need to be covered. Let me know what you think on that and how to proceed if you agree. Best, Eric Eric D.
