Message from Bonnie Raquet and Randy Russell to WFP USA Board of Directors

Dear members of the Board:

We are writing to update you on the continuing work concerning the coaching and development of WFP USA’s leadership in accordance with the Board’s decision in our recent board meeting and your instructions to us.

This week we signed agreements on behalf of the Board to continue the engagements of Dr. Rich Morrill, Chancellor of the University of Virginia, and Mr. Jack McGuinness, Managing Partner of Relationship Impact, LLC. These two consultants will work together with Rick Leach for the coming six months, as follows:

· The first effort will be to work with Rick to establish a performance plan, establishing his goals and expectations for this work. The board should expect to see this plan, and receive an early report, at our February board meeting.
· Jack McGuinness will work internally with Rick to: provide individual operational and leadership coaching; develop WFP USA’s leadership team to improve their leadership skills; and assess the potential need for a COO/COS. We have described this work as “focusing inward.”
· Rich Morrill will work with Rick on developing his skills in interactions with the board, help the board to develop as a strategic governance team, and help Rick develop his fundraising capabilities. We have described this as focusing “up and outward.”
· As we approach the end of the six month period, we will assess the progress and determine what further work and support might be needed.
