Yesterday, deeply disturbing allegations against Roy Moore, an Alabama candidate for Senate, were published in The Washington Post. Four women courageously came forward and recounted stories of Moore engaging in illegal sexual activity with them while they were between the ages of 14 and 18 and Moore was in his early 30s.

Republican lawmakers -- including President Trump and Vice President Pence -- have stated that if the allegations were true, Moore should step down from running. And, sadly but unsurprisingly, Congressman Steve King is still defending Moore.

When he endorsed Moore for Senate, Steve King said Moore could “be counted on to fight to advance our shared conservative values.” After these allegations came to light, King attacked the members of his party who were calling on Moore to drop out, instead of addressing the allegations.

This cannot be swept under the rug. It must be addressed. Add your name and tell King that pedophilia is too serious to ignore; protecting our children and young people must always come before politics:

It breaks my heart that, after decades of work, women are still fighting for equality and for survivors of sexual assault to be believed. But, just look at how our current president talks about assaulting women. It’s easy to see that with leaders like King and Trump, our country has moved backward.

Leadership will set the tone for decades to come, and we cannot waste this opportunity to set a precedent of compassion and understanding for victims. King and Trump have shown time and again that they will not be those leaders.
