> I hope this message finds you and your family doing well. For the last year, I have been volunteering a great deal of time to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, as a board member for their Philadelphia chapter. Working to fight suicide, the 10th leading cause of death in this country, is very important to me for personal reasons. I had a near death experience when I was 27 years old as a result of a highly ambivalent suicide attempt. It's taken me awhile to feel comfortable speaking about my experience with depression and suicidal thoughts in public, but I'm grateful to be talking to groups regularly now in the Philadelphia area, and I'm planning on sharing my story and the AFSP's Talk Saves Lives program at Archmere next Fall.

> The AFSP is at the center of the fight to reduce suicide, and I know that your stepmother was kind enough to speak at an AFSP event last year in February. Given the latest statistics recently released by the CDC the fight to reduce suicide is as important as ever. Each year advocates from all of our chapters visit Washington to lobby Congress. This year's advocacy forum is June 12th - June 15th, and I will be participating for the first time. I've gotten to know the executive leadership of the AFSP over the last year, and I'm grateful to be working with such passionate and dedicated people. We have an ambitious goal and a realistic plan of attack to reduce the U.S. suicide rate by 20% within a decade.

I would be beyond grateful for any help you might be able to provide in helping me make this meeting happen.

>> The obvious horrible circumstances aside, I was grateful to have had the chance to spend the few moments that we spent together at Beau's wake; it meant a lot to me to see you and to personally express my condolences to you and your family. I also want to let you know how touched I was, blown away really, by your amazing tribute to your brother at the funeral. The entire ceremony was such a beautiful tribute and celebration of Beau and his life. I was so grateful to be able to see it, not to mention to know that people that may not have known Beau could see and hear you and everyone else that spoke, so that they could understand what kind of son, father, brother, friend and public servant... what kind of person your brother was. I also wanted to take a moment to share something else with you. Beau's wake was the first time that I ever spoke with your father, and as I was getting close to the front of the receiving line, I debated taking a couple extra moments to thank him for his decades of service to the people of Delaware and this country, but I decided against it in the interest of time. I wanted to thank him for living such an inspiring life and for dedicating himself to public service and for being a living example of the difference that one person can help make, for others. For what it's worth, I also want to share this thought... in spite of her own record of decades of public service, Hillary Clinton simply does not inspire me the way that your father does, and this doesn't have anything to do with the fact that I went to school with you and Beau, but rather, it has to do with how I see your father as a person, as a leader and as a public servant. Inspiration has a lot to do with why and how your father and the president got elected obviously, and I don't think there's any less need for inspiration now. I can only begin to imagine the calculus that your father and your family must be going through weighing what's next, but please know that you/your father have a volunteer in me, in Philadelphia, that will throw himself into his campaign for president, should he decide to run. I imagine this may have been the longest two months of your life Hunt, and I continue to pray for you and your whole family.
