Plattner Charles Davidson (Respondent) Dear Friends: The next American President will face a world in flux, where new sources of instability and disorder will likely threaten international peace, security and prosperity in ways we've not witnessed since the Cold War. What are the key challenges? Where do opportunities lie? "America in the World 2017" is a Blue Star Strategies discussion series focusing on key trends, featuring some of the most gifted and influential figures from the international scene today. To continue our series we will be hosting a lunch discussion on the rise of authoritarian powers featuring Christopher Walker and Marc F. Plattner, co-editors of the new book Authoritarianism Goes Global: The Challenge to Democracy. Charles Davidson will respond. Mr. Walker is Vice President for Studies and Analysis at the National Endowment for Democracy. Prior to joining the NED, Walker was Vice President for Strategy and Analysis at Freedom House. Mr. Plattner is founding coeditor of the Journal of Democracy and co-chair of the Research Council of the International Forum for Democratic Studies. He previously served as NED’s Vice President for Research and Studies until 2016. Mr. Davidson is the Publisher and CEO of The American Interest and the Executive Director of the Kleptocracy Initiative at the Hudson Institute.
