Part of my mission under Task Force 2010 was to gain visibility on the movement of black money – and we did that, plus a lot more as you well know. The recent acts of violence in northern Africa were obviously well funded. Since returning in May, I have been stressing the need to focus on Mali and the great opportunity that exists on a global scale that could effectively bankrupt various insurgent groups, especially the Haqqani’s, Taliban and al Qaeda. All made possible because of the groundwork developed by Task Force 2010.


Also, remember the model we started to develop that was real time with financial records. This was being developed to help predict future acts of insider killings or suicide bombings.

I share this with you along with the attached briefing document to stress the importance of standing up such a financial strike force and the real opportunity that does exist to truly attack the funding sources and vehicles of the terrorists. We need a global team to follow the money and then use the legal mechanism to take it away! And we need it now! I have PwC ready to support me anywhere in the world and legal teams at DoJ ready to act. I am asking for help in stressing this opportunity directly to Secretary Panetta. I'm sure he will support such an effort.

We can win the war on terror and one of the weapons is to bankrupt the enemy!
