Just sent in my ballot. Keeping my fingers crossed for four more years. Great speeches at the convention, and as usual, great to see your family happy and continuing to grow on stage. We should catch up. Correa was threatening to throw USAID out of Ecuador a few months ago. It was a political move to rally his leftwing base by falsely claiming that USAID is linked to the CIA and secretly working to support "opposition" groups whose aim is to destabilize ALBA countries. Cooler minds seem to have prevailed for now. For a while there, I thought I was going to be moving back to D.C. soon. I actually used the USAID contribution to the World Food Programme activity (about $2m/year) as a talking point to say that about 50,000 Colombian refugees along Ecuador's Northern border would not receive food if USAID were to leave Ecuador. Seems to have worked. I'd be curious to hear what you're thinking about for your own future involvement with WFP. Andrew M.
