Most of you are unaware that last year Congress designated September as "Prostate Cancer Awareness Month"

Also, I'm sure that most of you are also unaware that over 230,000 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer (PCa) this year and over 32,000 men will die of it! That's 1 out of every 8 men. In African american men the numbers are higher 1 in 6.

It used to be considered the "Old Mans Disease".

Not true anymore, younger and younger men are now being diagnosed each year, and it's now being found in the young soldiers that are being shipped back from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan in body bags.

Most if not all of you have had a father, grandfather, brother, uncle or friend that has been affected by it or perhaps died of it.

It is a FAMILY disease, as it affects the entire family.

"Cured" or uncured the effects can be devastating. Many men have been known to commit suicide after undergoing treatment due to the "side" effects.

Doctors don't know what PSA or Gleason scores will kill you, or which PCa can be left untreated for years without any symptoms.

Why? Lack of research...and lack of funding.

So what do they do? The doctors play it safe and treat it by either surgically removing it, radiating it, chemically treating it, freezing it, etc., etc., etc.

No matter what the treatment a man undergoes the likelihood of him ever being the same is virtually nil.

The numbers for Breast cancer are almost identical to that of PCa , but less. So identical in fact are the numbers, that if your father or uncle or any blood relative is diagnosed with PCa the women in the family should be checked for Breast Cancer at an early age.

This Sunday (Tomorrow) completes what we call "The Pony Express Run" which began last spring and culminates in Washington DC; at first the Capital, then the White house.
