TEAM PA – Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) 2014 Communication PlanAll, For the last two years, considerable time, effort and focus has been placed on sexual assault prevention and response. As a result, the reporting and incident gap appears to be shrinking, while the idea that this is everyone's problem to solve is taking hold. We join the National and DoD effort in designating April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). This year’s theme is "Live Our Values: Step Up to Stop Sexual Assault." In years past, our strategy was to provide scripted and planned events intent on building and growing a grassroots effort. This year, a conscious effort has been made to encourage commands to tailor recognition and communication events to best meet their local needs. Attached is the SAAM 2014 communication plan to assist you in developing and executing your command’s strategy. We recommend the following approach: 1) The first half of the month; reflect on the last two years -- what have we done right or wrong, and where have we improved or require improvement. 2) The second half of the month; looking forward -- how to make improvements, evolve the conversation and prevent ourselves from becoming complacent.
