USGLC The 2014 Tribute Dinner Dear Hunter, I had to laugh when someone dubbed our annual Tribute Dinner the "Smart Power Prom," but I certainly was thrilled to see nearly 900 power players join us to honor three extraordinary Americans: Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH), Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA), and USAID Administrator Raj Shah. Watch the Highlights http://action.usglc.org/site/R?i=HYyNMhwVwgT1s7tCVfbLuw Here are some of my favorite highlights: * Bipartisan Leadership. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) paid tribute to Raj Shah, and said that when he takes the helm of the State-Foreign Ops Subcommittee next year, he will "make this account (International Affairs) the cool place to be." * Military Might. One of the most powerful messages of the evening was sent by Lt. General Kip Ward (Ret.), representing 160 retired flag officers, when he stated, "Cutting foreign aid puts America's security at risk." * Breathtaking. The Amani Children's Choir from Uganda singing America the Beautiful was a show-stopper and an important reminder of why we were all gathered. http://action.usglc.org/site/R?i=JbkXVA1H58mxmv0266nvUQ View Photos from the Dinner http://action.usglc.org/site/R?i=LfyQIq8fFWiRIkTHrr7BbQ It was a spectacular evening, and I thank all of those who joined us. For those who missed it, don't worry - there's always 2015. Liz Schrayer President & CEO If you'd prefer not to receive occasional emails from us, you can unsubscribe here.
