President Donald Trump, speaking Sunday in Saudi Arabia on his first international trip, took a moderate tone on Islam, speaking of partnerships with Islamic nations in the war against extremism. His remarks avoided the inflammatory remarks against Muslims that had marked much of his presidential campaign.

The president told his audience in Riyadh: "We are not here to lecture - we are not here to tell other people how to live, what to do, who to be, or how to worship. Instead, we are here to offer partnership - based on shared interests and values."
