The memorial service for Dr. Katy (I have only been misspelling her name as Katie for 40 years) Roth Weston will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 4700 Whitehaven Parkway, in Washington, D. C.

Some have asked what happened in Katy’s last days. In short, Katy suffered from a seizure disorder and Behcet’s (pronounced beh-CHETS) Syndrome, an autoimmune disease. On December 8th, she had a seizure thought mild at first. Soon, however, she had trouble breathing and was taken to Georgetown Hospital. Once there she went into shock, and become unconscious and unresponsive. She was put on life support. Her condition worsened over the next several days, and it was determined that Katy had very significant and irreversible brain damage. Life support was discontinued on Monday, December 15, and Katy died shortly thereafter.

As noted in my prior email, you can correspond with Jane at 4845 V Street, N. W., Washington, D. C. 20007. Also, Jane has noted a specific charity to which donations can be made in Katy’s name. It is the Humane Society, either the national organization or a local chapter.
