North Korea’s missile test Sunday suggests a step forward in the country’s pursuit of a functioning intercontinental ballistic missile, according to aerospace experts via Reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-missiles-idUSKCN18A12B?utm_source=CSIS+All&utm_campaign=008c55d896-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_05_15&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f326fc46b6-008c55d896-145367789) . The missile took a high trajectory, flying only 489 miles, but it could reach a range of 2,500 miles if fired with a standard trajectory.

This weekend an incredible thing happened in the downtown area of Bethesda where I live.

Our heroic neighbors, the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and Naval Support Activity Bethesda put on a concert with Freedom Live, an organization who’s mission is to “deliver high quality, live entertainment that effectively contributes to the morale, well-being, and quality of life of the military community who serve and stand ready to defend our nation.”

So on Saturday night, all of downtown Bethesda rocked along with our heroes at Walter Reed to the sounds of Styx and Eddie Money. I could hear it in my driveway while playing basketball with my sons and even inside our house. It was a loud, joyful and welcome noise that sounded crystal clear even a mile away from the venue!

The thought of the United States military community being treated to Styx and Eddie Money made me smile. I love those bands. Heck, everyone loves those bands and knows half of their songs by heart! To hear Styx blasting across Bethesda… and to think about the sacrifice our military and their families make for our country. Wow. And if you were anywhere near downtown Bethesda Saturday night, you would have heard an astonishingly powerful rendition of Styx’s classic “Come Sail Away (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhRx1MqfG8Q&feature=youtu.be&utm_source=CSIS+All&utm_campaign=008c55d896-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2017_05_15&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_f326fc46b6-008c55d896-145367789) .” It sounded even better than this version from 1978.
