Just hours ago, Kim Reynolds was sworn in as our new governor.

She now takes over a state that is struggling from the devastating effects of the Republican agenda.

Too many Iowans have been left behind under Terry Branstad. Wages are stagnant or declining, schools are underfunded, and families are struggling to provide basic care for their loved ones.

I hope that Governor Reynolds will listen to the people she now leads, and understand the challenges that Iowans are facing. But if Governor Reynolds won’t, I will.

Starting today, Governor Reynolds could take swift action to reverse the attacks on workers, teachers, students, seniors, women, and forgotten Iowans that her party coded into law -- and I'm hoping she will.

But if we don't prepare now for the possibility that the Reynolds administration could take our state further down the wrong path, catching up next year will be nearly impossible.

To turn our state back in the right direction, we must show we have the resources to hold Reynolds accountable if she fails to stand with everyday Iowans.
