</style></head><body><p>Hello Sophomores,</p>
<p>The College Counseling Office will administer a full-length practice ACT test to all sophomores on Wednesday, May 3. You will take the test during the regular school day and do not need to do anything to prepare for this practice exam; you simply need to report to the room indicated below by 8:00 a.m., equipped with two number 2 pencils and a calculator. </p>
<p>The ACT is a college admissions test that has gained an equal profile in the eyes of college admission officers and has gained much greater prominence nationwide as well as at Sidwell Friends. As such, we believe it is important to offer our students exposure to both the SAT and ACT. Our hope is that by giving students an opportunity to gauge their results on both types of standardized tests, they will be better able to assess their particular strengths and weaknesses on standardized tests and determine if one test better suits their learning style. </p>
<p>Because of the relationship we have developed with Academic Approach®, a Chicago-based test preparation company, all students will be able to take this practice test, receive an individualized score report, and have access to their complete suite of online SAT and ACT preparation courses for the remainder of their upper school careers. Registration instructions and a detailed description of the online courses will accompany each individualized score report to be mailed in early June. </p>
<p>Students’ test scores from this practice exam will NOT become part of any ACT record and cannot be considered “official” for purposes of college applications. We, the college counselors, will be able to access our students’ scores on-line, but only as part of the secure, Academic Approach® website.</p>
