In an election cycle like this one, we're making history every day, Robert - could not be more critical that we be on the right side of it.

The Trump White House has been pushing an outrageous anti-LGBTQ agenda since its first day, and it's on every one of us to prove CA won't stand for that kind of bigotry. One thing we can do right now is speak up and fight for the Equality Act. It's moving through Congress right now, but Washington Republicans want to stop it in its tracks. Why? Because it actually takes proactive measures to protect LGBTQ Americans from discrimination. It would create important legal protections in housing, education, employment, and more - all places where LGBTQ people have no protection from discrimination now. No more getting married on Sunday and fired for it on Monday morning. We can stop that for good.

Marriage was one of our first big fights - and you already know CA took that one head-on. Back in 2004, I married same-sex couples on the steps of City Hall in San Francisco because it was right. Because it was just. And because it was about time.

Well, it's time again, Robert. We've got to raise our voices on this, and fast - our LGBTQ neighbors are counting on us to show up. Will you stand up for what's right and become a citizen co-sponsor of the Equality Act to put the pressure on Congress?
