Hunter-- Memorial Day is our opportunity to honor soldiers that died in service to our country. For me, it’s an opportunity to think back on sacrifices made by American soldiers in the defense of freedom and liberty -- some that had a direct impact on my family. There are many ways to serve and sacrifice. My maternal grandfather fought in the anti-Nazi resistance in Hungary. Almost his entire community perished in Nazi death camps, but he escaped and fought back from the shadows, and alleys, and sewers of Europe. But all his sacrifice would have been for nought, without the 416,000 American soldiers who laid down their lives to liberate Europe and Asia. Today, our country and it’s ideals are under assault from within. Sometimes patriots fight best with words and actions, not guns and tanks. Trump has attacked our judiciary, our free press, our shared land, water and air and possibly colluded with our enemies. Make no mistake, this is an attack on our country.
