Dear Friends & Colleagues,


With 2019 underway, we’re excited to be back to work and look forward to
engaging with you all throughout the year.

The path ahead for us is clear: to work together to implement the Global
Food Security Act -- reauthorized last year -- as we pursue our ambitious
goals of reducing global hunger, poverty and malnutrition. The historic
enactment of this legislation, and all of Feed the Future’s accomplishments
to date, would not have been possible without your dedication, leadership
and collaboration. Thank you for your support and engagement over the years.

As we embark on a new year together, I’d like to share some updates.


1.

In case you missed it, the GFSA two-year implementation report is out
(attached), highlighting progress made in implementing the Act and
individual interagency contributions.

In that report, we’ve released guidance that outlines our approach to
Feed the Future target country graduation. Our goal, over the years, will
be to help accelerate and protect our partner countries’ progress while
supporting their transition to a new food security assistance
relationship with the U.S. Government on their respective journeys to
self-reliance. Thanks to those of you who provided input on this approach.

This year we will focus on operationalizing a truly multi-sectoral,
integrated approach to global food security. This is reflected in some
of the changes USAID is undertaking through its Transformation and in how
we are programming in this new phase of Feed the Future. Getting
multi-sectoral integration right is a complex task, requiring us to connect
in new and deeper ways across our respective communities. Your support,
insight and ideas will be vital to success. Save the date for March 19 for
an afternoon event with USAID leadership to discuss the way forward on
implementing a truly multi-sectoral approach to resilience and global food
security. Stay tuned for an email invite for your organization’s executive
and a plus one.

We released our annual Year in Review

encourage you to take a few minutes to read it, reflect on progress, and
join us in re-dedicating ourselves to the task of building a world free
from hunger, poverty and malnutrition.


We deeply appreciate and value all of the work you do in the food security
