<p>Today marks the 8th anniversary of the establishment of the MC rating. RDML McCreary and his team merged the Illustrator Draftsman, Journalist, Lithographer, and Photographers Mate ratings to improve efficiency, support optimal manning, and better align the new rating with commercial industry practices.</p>

<p>The past eight years have proved all that and more. Our MCs are impressive, multi-talented professional communicators. I hear that over and over again from Navy leaders and from other service PA/VI professionals. Our MCs are recognized across the military as the best trained and most capable in our field.</p>

<p>It is a testament not only to the vision of what the rating could be, but also to the leaders in the legacy ratings that successfully brought us through the merge. It is also a testament to our DINFOS instructors, to the Sailors that taught NPASE essential skills courses and to everyone who had to learn new skills to become the best Mass Communication Specialist they could be --- regardless of their legacy rating.</p>

<p>Happy birthday MCs. Your talent, creativity and drive continue to impress us all. Keep up the incredible work.</p>
