Good Morning Sidwell Friends Family,


I wanted to reach out because we are hosting a great information session for those who want to learn more about the recruiting process. Coming for a collegiate background, I find most difficulty in the recruiting process stems from schools not taking the time to educate families on the process and rules from the NCAA. Sidwell is one of the very few program that goes out of their way to assist students beyond their commitment to their current program. We are excited to host our annual NCAA recruiting event on February 26that 6 PM in the RLS Meeting Room, open to everyone in our Sidwell Friends community. This year, we are excited to welcome new Howard University Football Coach, Ron Prince<https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2018/12/10/ron-prince-brings-an-offensive-background-his-new-job-howards-head-football-coach/?utm_term=.9fa10dd5d5c3>. Coach Prince has an incredible coaching resume and most recently was at the University of Michigan working with Jim Harbaugh. He also has coached at UVA, Cornell, Rutgers James Madison and Kansas State. While at Kansas State he served three years as their head coach and his staff included current Penn State head coach, James Franklin, and Nebraska head coach, Scott Frost. He was a huge get for Howard and we are excited to have him on campus. Although he has a football background, he brings extensive knowledge about college recruiting that is valuable for all sports, and his three sons were recruited by Division I and III schools.


Our Director of College Counseling, Patrick Gallagher, will also join us. Patrick brings a wealth of knowledge about the NCAA recruiting process from another perspective. Before coming here, my entire career was in NCAA recruiting and I’m always calling Patrick for his insights. We are very lucky to have him at Sidwell Friends

Though I am an advocate for taking time to develop our young athletes, I know for some sports like soccer, softball, and baseball it’s never too early to get educated in order to put your child in the best position as possible.
