TEAM PA: NAVCO’s Speaker Resource LibraryAll, If you haven’t seen the new Navy Outreach website (www.navyoutreach.org), I invite you to take a look. The NAVCO team has done a great job pulling together a site full of useful information and resources to help you prepare your leadership and Sailors for outreach events. This site is a one-stop shop for support products and programs at NAVCO, including its “Speaker Resource Library,” which includes various speeches for occurrences throughout the year that traditionally create a high volume of requests for Navy speakers around the Fleet. The latest example is NAVCO's 2014 Independence Day Speech; now available at http://www.navyoutreach.org/programs/speakers/speakers-resources-archive/. This speech is appropriate for Independence Day commemorations and ceremonies, includes the CNO’s key messages, and can aid you in preparing your leadership for Independence Day speaking engagements. You can expect to see similar products for the 9/11 anniversary, Navy Birthday, Veterans Day and Pearl Harbor Day. Another new product available each week in NAVCO's speakers’ resource library is "Speakers Notes," a weekly digest of the Navy's top news, issues and current events. It is compiled entirely from official USG, DoD and DoN sources, aligned with Navy communication priorities and organized by CNO tenet. This compilation is the result of a review of more than two dozen official websites, blogs and other official sources. News clips, external reports and other non-Navy, non-DoD sources are specifically excluded to ensure Navy speakers can speak with confidence on the issues covered. The “Speakers Notes” can be used in a couple of ways. It is primarily an electronic digest with links to the full text of articles, speeches, blogs and transcripts should a speaker require more detail on an issue. But it can also be used in its printed form, as notes at the podium or as a current events primer on the way to an event, with brief abstracts on each entry which provide the 5Ws and How. Many of you have inquired about a "Navy 101" presentation. NAVCO has addressed that need as well. Visit the library and check out the Navy's "Being There Matters" PowerPoint presentation, with the corresponding narrative embedded in the notes pages. This presentation delivers the CNO's key messages and is written in plain language, which Gallup research has determined to be critical in getting to a level of understanding for most Americans. If you have suggestions for additional resources, or would like to have speeches you have written available to a wider audience, please contact Mr. Todd Martin (todd.martin@navy.mil or (901) 874-5805). v/r, CAPT CutlerIf you would rather not receive future communications from Navy Office of Information (CHINFO), let us know by clicking here.Navy Office of Information (CHINFO), Department of the Navy 1200 Navy Pentagon--Room 4B463, Washington, DC 20350-1200 United States
