HAPPY 240th, America! AP FOR TUESDAY PAPERS - "Tale of Two Conventions: With few political allies, Trump plans celebrity convention," by Steve Peoples in Cleveland, with Julie Pace and Jill Colvin in D.C.: "Prospects include former Indiana basketball coach Bobby Knight, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and longtime boxing promoter Don King. 'I'm going to be involved, definitely,' said King, who lives in Cleveland and is a passionate supporter ...

"'This is not going to be your typical party convention like years past,' said Trump spokesman Jason Miller. 'Donald Trump is better suited than just about any candidate in memory to put together a program that's outside of Washington and can appeal directly to the American people.'

"When Hillary Clinton hosts her party at the Democratic National Convention the following week, she'll face a different issue entirely: how to squeeze in the many popular, prominent Democrats backing her campaign. Along with Clinton and her eventual vice presidential pick, there are sure to be speeches from President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, first lady Michelle Obama and, of course, the candidate's husband, former President Bill Clinton. There's also Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren ...

"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, one of the likely speakers, praised Trump's plan to use his celebrity connections to reach a broader audience. ... 'My children are all going to be speaking: Ivanka, Tiffany, Don, Eric. They're going to be speaking,' Trump said Friday during an appearance at the Western Conservative Summit in Denver. 'My wife is going to be speaking at the convention.' ...

"Trump's campaign has also been in touch with aides to chief primary rival, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who has been trying to win a speaking slot. Other national leaders under consideration include former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton, West Virginia Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Gingrich." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=c7b8e7ec310c1f2ba174b6c8e7964b25c6fb858e2dcafd1f391849e978dc33df

Ryan is head of the Caucus Operations Team, a.k.a. Team Trump, and John is Director of Communications. They will work out of the Westin Cleveland Downtown, which will be the Trump command post during the convention. Stevens has worked in politics and television in two White Houses and for every GOP convention beginning with Ronald Reagan's reelection in 1984.

Stevens will make a brief State Visit home to D.C. on Thursday morning, when Trump will address the House Republican Conference, at the invitation of Chair McMorris Rodgers.

Stevens will help oversee TV, radio, specialty media and media events, with a portfolio that includes women, millennials, vets, Hispanics, African Americans, international. After the convention, Pam will return as the House GOP's Director of Media Affairs and Strategic Initiatives, unless Trump snatches her away once again. Her email address remains pstevens@gopconvention2016.com. She encourages journalists to call often and come visit!

--NYT A10, "White House Prohibits Cabinet From Addressing Democratic Convention," by Julie Hirschfeld Davis: "intended to avoid the appearance that the administration's final months are being consumed by the politics of Hillary Clinton's campaign. ... Headlining a fund-raiser for Mrs. Clinton? No problem for a cabinet secretary, as long as the secretary does not use his or her official title or ask for contributions." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=c7b8e7ec310c1f2bef6f37e9a68c97eb0789e2d218c7a203dce450635e5b084c

SHOT - Trump tweets: "Dishonest media is trying their absolute best to depict a star in a tweet as the Star of David rather than a Sheriff's Star, or plain star!" http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=c7b8e7ec310c1f2bc6bb37b4b597de6e5ba81091529544a5c6d7f009b10a5d80

CHASER - WashPost A1, at fold, "Another Trump tweet tied to racist site," by Dave Weigel: "The offending image first appeared in a June 15 tweet by @FishBoneHead1, an account with fewer than 1,000 followers and a penchant for memes that mock Muslims, black Democrats and 'cucks' - an alt-right term derived from the word 'cuckold,' for people they deem insufficiently conservative. According to Anthony Smith, a reporter for the news site Mic, it was shared June 22 on a racist section of the 8Chan Web forum." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=c7b8e7ec310c1f2b9a73c0a89b8c93925dfe90016b932cd58e15f501bd833097

FLASHBACK - NYT's Alan Rappeport on Saturday: "While the six-pointed star is used in other contexts, including as a symbol of many Sheriff's Departments, it has deep meaning in Judaism and the image was overlaid atop a pile of money. It appeared to play into the stereotype of Jews being obsessed with finances. After being derided on social media, Mr. Trump deleted the post and replaced it with one that had a circle." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=c7b8e7ec310c1f2bda6e4d03b976e35e1b2d339548b13a771151feb7bde1ca35

PRESIDENT CLINTON II - N.Y. Times A1, at fold, "A Second President Clinton: Mapping Out Her First 100 Days," by Patrick Healy (online: "She Wants Progress on Immigration and to Drink With G.O.P."): "[S]he would ... tap women to make up half of her cabinet in hopes of bringing a new tone and collaborative sensibility to Washington, while also looking past Wall Street to places like Silicon Valley for talent - perhaps wooing Sheryl Sandberg from Facebook, and maybe asking Tim Cook from Apple to become the first openly gay cabinet secretary. ...

CONNECTING THE DOTS - WashPost 1-col. lead, "ISIS's appeal spreads globally: ATTACKS THIS YEAR ON 4 CONTINENTS - Teams, not lone wolves, are targeting civilians," by Carol Morello and Joby Warrick (online: "Islamic State's ambitions and allure grow as territory shrinks"): "The slaughter of civilians in three large attacks in the past week alone - in Istanbul on Tuesday, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on Friday, and in Baghdad on Sunday - suggests that militant actions beyond the caliphate's borders are taking place more frequently and not necessarily with any overt direction from some caliphate headquarters.

"Even more alarmingly, a growing number of attacks, starting with those in Paris and Brussels, were conducted by gangs of assailants instead of by an individual gunman." http://go.politicoemail.com/?qs=c7b8e7ec310c1f2b94c6c0be7af45648722c3629663d637b0939d72bff58e7c7
