Marathon Restaurant Group and YUM! Brands Announce Expansion of Pizza Hut into Western Cape, South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa 6/26/2016 - The world-famous Pizza Hut brand is officially launching in the Western Cape of South Africa. Ovens will begin firing on Sunday June 26th at the brand's flagship store at the popular West Coast Village Shopping Centre in Tableview. This first location will showcase a new aspirational, cutting edge fast casual store design that emphasizes convenience and efficiency in a fun, social setting with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Pizza Hut, which has more than 16,000 restaurants worldwide and 2015 sales totaling over $12 billion, is the first and only pizza restaurant company to have locations in 100 countries. Pizza Hut entered South Africa in 2014 and already has over two dozen stores there and has restaurants in twelve countries across Africa. In Cape Town, Pizza Hut's core signature pizza's will be the anchor of the menu, but there will also be a broad range of chicken wing and strip offerings with a variety of sauces. The menu will also feature handmade garlic bread sticks and decadent chocolate inspired desserts.

Marathon has also partnered with iconic local craft beer brewer Devil's Peak to showcase the best local craft beer in the Western Cape. In the coming months, Pizza Hut will be hosting special tasting events to give consumers a chance to pair their favorite pizza and chicken offerings with their favorite Devil's Peak seasonal beer.

Pizza Hut Western Cape will feature a best-in-class fleet of delivery drivers, committed to predictable and timely home delivery. Marathon is proud of its partnership with the local NGO, Harambee - a Youth Employment Accelerator, which has helped source and train the first 25 store level employees who then move into the Marathon Leadership Program (MLP).
