Dear Hunter,


As you may recall, I announced in June 2011 that I was writing a book about my dad, entitled “A Good Man: Rediscovering My Father, Sargent Shriver.”


The good news is that the book is finished and will be available in book stores on June 5 -- this coming Tuesday!


I am honored that the book has received some attention already, from O magazine, to Vanity Fair, to last weekend’s Parade magazine. The book also has some great blurbs from President Clinton, Cokie Roberts, Tom Brokaw, and a few others.


I will be at work at Save the Children through tomorrow and then I embark on a three-week book tour, starting with an interview on The Today Show on Monday. I am nervous but excited -- excited, really, to share Dad’s story of a strong faith that demanded acts of hope and love. And those acts were the work of his life -- the Peace Corps, Head Start, Job Corps, and Legal Services, to name a few; his efforts alongside my mom to spread Special Olympics around the world; and, most importantly, his role as father and grandfather.


I am honored to try to help in that fight for social justice in my work here at Save the Children. I am blessed by the strong support of our terrific Board of Trustees, our CEO, Carolyn Miles, and the incredibly talented team in our U.S. Programs division.
