Below are call notes and follow up/action items from our UD call on Friday. This is just for internal circulation - not to be shared with UD - if there are others that should be included on this distribution list let me know. Please feel free to make edits or add more to the list of follow up.

Call Notes

44 Kent Way

Goal is to have 44 Kent Way renovated and ready for occupancy on January 23, 2017. UD needs to know how many people total will be in 44 Kent Way in order to begin renovations.

Salaries and Personnel

UD has committed to $2.5 million for salaries and benefits ($2.5m inclusive of benefits).

If we want to begin hiring prior to January, UD can find space for 3-4 people and it will only take 3-4 weeks to on board new personnel.

New Building

UD says new building will be 100,000 to 150,000 sq. ft.

UD can have architect hired after RFP process which will take 3-6 months.

UD asked for us to share any names of potential architects.

Charrette planning comes after architect hired.

Biden School

UD commits to name the school as the Biden School of Public Affairs and Citizen Engagement.

UD’s School of Arts and Sciences has prepared a report on priorities for this school. Report will be shared with at working group level before it is shared with President Assanis and JRB.

Communications

Targeting the week of October 17th to make announcements.

Administrative

Plan a call each week 12:30 – 1:30 each Wednesday (although may need to change the timing of this so it isn’t in the middle of the day).

Follow Up/Questions to be Resolved

What goes in the "building' - VP Center, VP library, Biden School of Public Policy, space for JRB and his staff, Beau Biden Foundation...?

What issues will JRB want to deal with in the building? What issues will JRB not want to deal with in the building? (those that compete with UPENN)

How much time will VP spend at UD?

What will the VP center do?

How do we deal with the $2.5 million for salaries and benefits for JRB staff? Who are those staff and what the roles?
